Life transitions

A transition is not only a change of situation. It is a period where the markers that used to work no longer do, and the new ones are not there yet.

The situation

You changed country, job, family status. Or someone left. From the outside the event is over and life has resumed. From the inside nothing is settled.

The most common sign is not sadness, it is drift: difficulty deciding, a feeling of being beside your own life, energy coming and going with no apparent logic.

What is really going on

A transition demands two jobs at once: letting go of what is no longer, and building what does not yet exist. The first is almost always underestimated — and it is the one that blocks the second.

People around you, meanwhile, often consider the matter closed as soon as the practical situation is sorted. That gap between other people’s timeline and yours is a large part of the difficulty.

What SAM can do here — and what it cannot

SAM can help name what was lost, separate what is genuinely decidable now from what must wait, and track progress over time — memory between sessions matters particularly here, because a transition is judged over weeks, not over one conversation.

What it cannot: speed up grief, or accompany complicated grief. Losing someone is not an organisational problem, and SAM will not treat it as one.

When to see a professional

Some signals are not coaching territory: sadness that will not lift for weeks, sleep or appetite durably broken, anxiety that stops you functioning, rising substance use, thoughts of harming yourself.

In those cases the right address is a doctor, a psychologist or a psychiatrist — not an AI. SAM says so when the signals accumulate, and presses if the situation persists. It does not simply keep coaching.

Going further, with a human

SAM works with you inside the app, and the essentials stay free. If you also want individual, paid support with an actual human, Malachie runs coaching sessions outside SENSAÏ.

It is one-to-one time with Malachie directly, to go deep on one specific subject. Book a session: https://tidycal.com/malachiekengne5/individual-coaching-session
